Casper nearly Takes it All

It was a different format at Alenda, a mini break from our POTY and handicap qualifiers. It was billed as a "fun" game. Not sure it turned out that way for everybody, but that's golf! So, we had 10 pairs playing for a "winner takes all" cash prize of €128. Who would get on really well with their partner, and which pair would get their green fee "free"?
The best combo turned out to be a Dutchman partnered with a Yorkshireman. Obviously. Their relationship started pretty hot. 24 points on the front 9. it cooled a little on the back 9, but that's what happens with relationships over time. We are not aware of any major arguements or disagreements (although Craig wasn't there at the end!), but a routine 19 points was more than enough to beat the other 9 pairs, all of whom had their troubles and strife.
Since Craig wasn't there at the end to tell us about his contribution towards the win, it was left for Casper to tell us all about two very rare gross birdies he shot at holes 9 and 13. He really did seem quite pleased with himself, and so he should.
Full results as follows:
Winners. Casper Moerbeek and Craig Longstaff. 43.
2nd. Peter Dymyd and Gary Stone. 41.
3rd. Viv Bacon and Wayne Stallings. 41.
4th. Christoph Dünwald and Martin Oddy. 39.
5th. Tony Bowers and Ben Wilcock. 37.
6th. Merrick Robinson and Barry Woodcock. 37.
7th. Ray Stone and Simon Parry. 36.
8th. Dave Smith and Richard Walsh. 35.
9th. Jordan Duffy and Edwin van Ravenswoud. 34.
10th. Dave Lesbirel and Ray Gambrill. 29.

Casper wasn't going to repeat his mistake at Bonalba by going too low this time. He was still predicting low though. He worked out that the number should be 31 but given it was a rollover, he thought that a second selection would be a smart move. He chose 32. He was right to keep low. But he went the wrong way. 30 was the answer, and €46 was waiting. He so nearly took it all.

Coming up - Levante 20/05 and La Sella 27/05
Great support again for both these games considering they come close together, and Levante, in particular, is a bit pricey. We are currently 19 for Levante. One more to take us up to 5 fourballs would be perfect (RSVP now if you want to play). At La Sella, we will be playing the Gregal+Mestral courses, and we are currently 17 players for that game. Hopefully we can get up to 20 as well.
You can register and pay on GolfDirecto now for both games, using the links from the Spaces App (Android) or from the WhatsApp group (iPhone). It will help us a lot if you can register and pay sooner rather than later. Thanks.
Back on the terrace, we welcomed back Dave Lesbirel. This was Dave's first game this year having undergone some medical procedure that make's him look younger. It's really good to have him back. And we welcomed prospective new member Edwin van Ravenswoud. At the risk of talking double dutch, Edwin and Casper will be representing The Netherlands.
As a reminder our next game is a POTY and official handicap qualifier at Levante on Wednesday 20th May. Registration and Payment, via GolfDirecto, is open now. It closes on Sunday 17th May at 17.00. Please register as soon as you can. This will help our Competitions Secretary immensely, and it will save us having to chase or remind, bothering you, bothering us! Thanks in advance.
As ever, this game will be sponsored by Blevins Franks, International Tax and Wealth Management. venessa.shepherd@blevinsfranks.com
