It certainly was. The game at Oliva did go ahead, but only just. At the last minute, buggies were replaced with electric trollies. But, most of our guys rose to the challenge, and went for it. And they completed the course in rather pleasant sunshine, but with soggy feet. Jordan said it was the first time in fifteen years that he had walked a golf course, "blood pressure and heart rate spot on, but legs and back ruined". He did it though, hats off to him, and to all the others.

It didn't dampen the spirits of retuning members, Gill Barrett, Noel McDonnell, Doug Kinloch or, local girl, Ilona Mathieu. And it didn't put off our new Member, Thomas Barrett. Thomas becomes the lowest handicapper in our Society, playing off 6.2!

Here's a summary of the results:

Full Results and Handicaps

Full results are available to view in your electronic scorecard. Go to Ranking, bottom left. You can select Overall, Division 1 or Division 2. Or, If you are Spanish Federated, you can see full results in the Golf Directo App if you have it. Go to the Competition, select Results, select same options.

Handicaps. 14 of 17 were Spanish Federated. Scores were submitted to the RFEG, and those scores will be added to your playing record, and handicaps adjusted. Latest handicaps can be viewed in the RFEG App (this also includes your playing history), or in the Golf Directo App.

Back in the clubhouse, the results were announced quite quickly but it was still late. Still, we had time for John Holgate to conduct a FA Cup style draw for the qualifying round of the 2026 CBKO Competition. 22 players will compete to try and take the trophy away from Wayne Stallings. 12 were drawn from the hat to play in the qualifying round, the most fascinating tie being the one between Dave Smith and Barry Woodcock. Full draw below.

Our next game is at Poniente on Wednesday 4th February. Please remember that registration and payment via GolfDirecto opens on Monday 26th January at 09.00. It closes on Sunday 1st February at 17.00. But, we would like everyone to get into the habit of registering and paying for the Wednesday game, sometime between the Monday and Friday of the week before. This will help our Competitions Secretary immensely, and it will save us having to chase or remind, bothering you, bothering us! Thanks in advance.

As ever, this game will be sponsored by Blevins Franks, International Tax and Wealth Management. peter.hodgkinson@blevinsfranks.com
