We need to know

We almost had a full house at Oliva. Only Neville Richardson, faithfully followed by his Mrs, stopped us. Injured tendons in right arm playing too much golf in Portugal. Still, 22, on a course in great condition, and perfect weather? No complaints, great day.

Roger Jennings took full advantage. This was only his fourth game this year with us. Injured back. (how come the Levante boys keep getting injured). Ten courses of physiotherapy treatment later, and he has a new superduper 43 point swing! Who is his physiotherapist? We need to know.

Here's a summary of the results:

Winners

Overall.

Roger Jennings - 43 points.

Division 1.

Winner. Wayne Stallings - 39 points.

Runner Up. Jordan Duffy - 36 points.

Division 2.

Winner. Roger Jennings - 43 points (outrageous)

Runner Up. Peter Dymyd - 42 points (equally outrageous)

NP's

Hole 5. NP with second shot. Nick Austin was pin high about 10 yards to the left. Great shot. He was in the first group. Everyone else tried and failed. Birdie?? Nope.

Hole 16. Mick Callanan, again! Birdie?? 4 pointer.

LBS

Lost or Not Lost. Every day is a school day. On the assumption that everyone knows the rules, we should get this right. Bit of a learning curve for some at Oliva. Group 6 had to recalculate their number, which caused group 1 to recalculate their number. We ended up with 46 lost balls, three less than originally declared. Craig Longstaff was the beneficiary of a €56 rollover sweep. On the assumption that we might have stuck with the original number, 49, the beneficiary would have been? Craig Longstaff, he chose 49 as well. On the assumption that we would all like to know the rules for the future, here they are.

End of Year Awards Lunch. Saturday 28th November.

Proposed event details now on the App. We are looking to guage interest in a change of venue, and a change from dinner to lunch, for our end of year awards get together. We are proposing restaurant Ca la iaia on the Moraira-Teulada road.

We would like a quick response from all members. Go to the App and the Events page. Click on the 2026 End of Year Awards Lunch. On the Event Details page, read About the event (click "show more" for all the information). Then click the Discussion tab, where you will see a quick yes/no poll. Don't worry, this is not a commitment, just an indication at this stage. Just click one of the three options likely to apply to you.

We have 57 members with the app in total of which around 50 are active one way or another, so we should be getting around 50 yes/no responses. It would be very helpful if you could indicate your preference right away. Thanks in advance.

Back in the cool of the clubhouse, we welcomed prospective new member Dominique Garnier (Wayne's guest from JaveaGC). He wasn't at his best due to injury , but we hope he comes back when fully fit. Paul Stansfield made a welcome return and it was good to see him again. And then we welcomed back our legacy member Roger Miller. At the ripe young age of 81, he was very excited to get his Federation Handicap updated after the game. It was last updated in January 2016!

Our next game is the Pairs Scramble on Wednesday 8th July. Registration and Payment, via GolfDirecto, is open now. It closes on Sunday 5th July at 17.00. Please register as soon as you can. This will help our Competitions Secretary immensely, and it will save us having to chase or remind, bothering you, bothering us! Please note, it will be an all buggy game. Thanks in advance.

As ever, this game will be sponsored by Blevins Franks, International Tax and Wealth Management. venessa.shepherd@blevinsfranks.com
