Bobble Hats and Shorts

It was a good look on the first tee. The girls looked great. The blokes looked, mmmm?? At the start of the game, it was much colder than anyone expected, or was prepared for. Hardy souls though, booble hats on, off we go.

We had quite a few members playing their first game of the season. We welcomed back, Russ Hedges, Chrissie Banstead, Merrick Robinson, and Casper Moerbeek. It was particularly good to see Casper back after his serious injury late last year. And Doug Kinloch got another game under his belt, along with his chum Steve Shand. Sadly it was Gill Barrett's last game with us for now, and we are not sure when she will be back. It has been a pleasure having you with us Gill. Hope to see you soon.

Here's a summary of the results:

Winners

Overall.

Craig Longstaff - 43 points.

Division 1.

Winner. NIck Austin - 39 points.

Runner Up. Merrick Robinson - 39 points.

Tie Break: Lowest Handicap.

Just a word on tiebreaks:

  • The rules of golf in Spain are governed by the RFEG.  We are following their rules by choice, not  convenience, (please note it is not golfdirecto that determines tiebreak rules, the software applies the rules determined by the RFEG) and,

  • There are 4 tiebreak options available to us, countback being one.  For now, we have opted for “lowest handicap” option in line with the RFEG and Campbell Lamont competitions that some Members play in.

Division 2.

Winner. Craig Longstaff - 43 points.

Runner Up. Viv Bacon - 40 points.

NP's

Both were nearest the pin with second shots on par 4's

Hole 7. Merrick Robinson

Hole 13. Douglas Kinloch

LBS

We got our April Fools joke in. Merrick was thinking he had won with his selections of 62 or 63. After a few questions about his selections, he was asked about the date. That's when the penny dropped. Good sport, Merrick.

Nobody won the sweep, we lost 73 balls. Chrissie came closest, choosing 72 and 75. €40 in the kitty for El Plantío.

CBKO

The remaining three qualifying matches were played on the day:

Gary Stone beat Casper Moerbeek 6&5

Dave Smith beat Barry Woodcock 1 up

Craig Longstaff beat Jordan Duffy 6&5

There was also one round of 16 match played

Paul Harrison v Viv Bacon finished A/S

Game to be replayed at El Plantío.

Roger Jennings has pulled out of his round of 16 match against Peter Dymyd. A lucky lucky loser from the qualifiers will take his plave. Barry Woodcock will now play Peter Dymyd.
