We have some important news to bring to your attention.

Captain Jordan has advised us that he is stepping down as Captain, and from his position on the Committee, with immediate effect. Faced with the choice of continuing until the end of the year, or playing "stress free" golf now (is there such a thing?), he chose the latter. Wise man. Which means he is no longer Captain Jordan, just Jordan.

Jordan was thrown into the deep end when he found himself Captain and Secretary eight years ago, but he got stuck in and kept it all going. And, he has kept it going for a long time, probably more than he anticipated or intended to. For that, we are all very grateful, and full of admiration for his efforts and contribution.  Above and beyond, really. Still, it was a painful decision for him to make. Next time you see him, go up to him, shake his hand, and say a big thank you.

The good news is that Jordan will continue to be a White Coast Member, and a Member of our League Squad. He will also continue to manage our POTY1 and POTY2, Orders of Merit, and he will help us put together different game formats as and when the occasion arises.

Ray Stone has taken this opportunity to step down from the Committee as well. Ray was a Committee Member without portfolio, but he was a valuable Member, offering sage advice when it was needed. He was also the best Sweeper along this part of the Costa Blanca. Ray moved South recently, close to the Alicante/Murcia border, which has made it difficult for him to contribute as much as he would like, hence the decision to step down now.

So, who's running the show?

For now, we have decided not to appoint any new committee members. Martin Oddy, as Vice-Captain, will step up to be acting Captain. He will be supported by;

Gary Stone - Honorary President.

John Holgate - Financial Controller.

Tony Bowers - Competitions Secretary.

Christoph Dünwald - League Captain.

Viv Bacon - Federation Secretary.

We have already been busy. Tony is fast becoming an expert with our new GolfDirecto system. His second competition is at Oliva on Wednesday 21st January. Christoph is in the middle of organising his first league game which is against Marina Alta, also at Oliva, on Thursday 29th January. Viv has arranged for all those who were not Federated, to be Federated and in double quick time. All those Members will now be able to sign up for the game at Oliva as Licensed players, and their new Federation handicaps will be automatically updated after each game. John is not only keeping us solvent, but he will be organising our Match Play Knock Out Competition. Invites for that have already gone out.

We are in good shape. We are a Society of 46 active players. All are Federated. 38 with the RFEG, and 8 by their Home Country Club. We are able to offer Members official RFEG handicap qualifiers, WHS handicaps, live and electronic scoring, payment online and access to results via an electronic scorecard, or better still, if you are Federated with the RFEG, via the GolfDirecto App. This App dispays all our competitions, players, schedules, playing order, tee-times, and results, overall and by division. We would recommend you download this App if you don't already have it.

See you at Oliva on Wednesday 21st January.
